King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, is organizing its “Second Conference on Administrative Sciences: Meeting the Challenges of the Globalization Age” to be held from April 19 to 21, 2004.

 

The Conference objective is to provide a forum for academics and practitioners in the various fields of administrative sciences to explore and share their research efforts and findings about advances and practices that are relevant to  globalization issues. Interested individuals are invited to submit manuscripts pertaining to the following tracks:

 

· Accounting:

Impact of information technology upon accounting and auditing; accounting controls in an e-commerce environment; assurance services; environmental accounting and disclosure issues; ethics and accounting; development of accounting and auditing standards; financial reporting issues; management accounting issues and practices; internal auditing; new trends in accounting education.

 

· Economics:

Economic issues in developing countries; structural economic adjustments; Islamic economics; labor market and population economics; privatization; economic diversification; industrial policies; external shocks and domestic policy response; energy economics; trade blocks and their impact on global trade and the Arabian Gulf countries.

 

· Finance:

Financial issues in developing countries; financial institutions and banks; Islamic finance and banking; financing the privatization process; money and capital markets; investments; financial engineering; foreign currency risks; global financial management; and globalization issues.

 

· Management:

Strategic management issues; management of behaviors and attitudes; human resources management; social and cultural management issues; management of change; performance evaluation and management; organizational communication; management in the global environment; new trends in management education.

 

· Management Information Systems:

IT management in developing countries; knowledge management; project management and IT; e-commerce technologies management; decision support technologies; database management technologies; global IT management; human-computer interaction; end-user computing; information systems ethics; Web-based learning and teaching.

 

· Marketing

Changing role of marketing in the organization; marketing and economic development; entry strategies for global markets; product and service strategies; managing logistics and distribution systems; integrated marketing communications; sales management; consumer and buyer behavior; role and relevance of emerging technologies for marketing; ethics in marketing; green marketing; and marketing education in the globalization age.

 

· Production and Operations Management:

Process design and improvement; productivity; performance measurement and evaluation; planning and scheduling; project management; total quality management; project scheduling, logistics, and supply chain management; maintenance management; safety and service management; inventory control; application of management science and value engineering in administrative sciences.
